About AAM
Looking for a new fitness challenge? Used to be a competitive swimmer and want to start again? Need to get ready for a triathlon? Looking to meet other passionate lap swimmers? Join the Alameda Aquatic Masters Swim Team! The AAM Swim Team is designed for, but not limited to, the novice-advanced swimmer who would like to improve on endurance and stroke technique. Participants, 18 and older, will be led through practices from an on-deck coach.
Our Goals
Our main goal at Alameda Aquatic Masters is to provide the team with a fun, active, and successful community where you can accomplish your swimming goals, build relationships, and have fun! We all know that swimming can be a monotonous sport, but with the right mix of workouts, activities, and social interactions, the pool is truly one of the best places to be.

We aim to give you a workout that is suited for your level, whatever that may be, and will work with each of you on goals you may have - whether that is to stay fit, train for an open water swim/triathlon/swim meet, or even just to become a better lap swimmer!

Our Coaches
Head Coach Amelia McDonald Busenitz

A little about me...
The water has been an important part of my entire life. I had the pleasure of spending most of my youth looking at the bottom of a pool and swimming for some pretty amazing coaches in San Francisco. When I wasn't in the pool I was surfing. I attended UCSC in the early 2000s where I lifeguarded, taught surfing and moved into open water swimming as well as coached club swimming. I managed a pool just outside of Santa Cruz for a bit after graduation, and then took a hiatus from aquatics for a bit, but not too long. Over a decade ago I started an after school program in San Francisco's Mission District, swimming was one of our main activities.
My family and I relocated to Alameda almost 3 years ago and absolutely love it. Somehow I have found myself back on the pool deck. I currently am the Head Swim Coach at Encinal High School and I am very excited to be working with the masters team. When I am not coaching you can find me chasing after my two wild kids who occupy a ton of my time!
